Mad Jocks at the Westley for a Valentine's celebration12th February 2011
What a night – with the luxurious surroundings, it was like Mad Jocks meet Hollywood!
107 people joined in at this bash held at the Westley Suite adorned with heart shaped balloons, heart decorated tablecloths and beautiful bows tied onto the wall lights by Anne Sutton. Len was on hand to take the photographs – and how good they are.
There's always a worry that we wont have enough raffle prizes but we ended up with lots of them. Wine, cosmetics, jewellery, along with a slow cooker were on offer. A saucy his and hers prize was on the table – dare we mention that whips and an item of underclothing were encased in a love heart. Would you believe a hockey stick was one of the prizes – nothing naughty implicated – the donor used to own a sports shop.
After the super group 'Mad Jocks and Englishmen' had finished their not to be forgotten performance, the tables were moved back and everyone let themselves go on the dance floor!
Reports from people who brought friends told us that they thought we have something unique in our neighbourhood – we know it's mainly the community spirit shown by our residents.
We raised over £300 to donate to 'Help for Heroes'.
