Residents' Association
The Big Tidy Up Sunday September 21st 2008
Lots of people all over the country are taking part in this event during September: Ros Corser has suggested it to our committee and we have happily taken it up. It is being run in conjunction with Disney Pixar's latest creation Wall.E, the futuristic robot designed to clean up the polluted planet Earth.

We will meet outside Acocks Green Library at 10am on September 21st when Penny Wagg, one of our councillors, and her husband Trevor will be joining us. In fact all 3 of our councillors, Penny Wagg, Iain Bowen and Roger Harmer turned up! Some of the local Scout Group turend up, as did some members of other residents' associations. We filled a total of 16 bags with rubbish! We hope that this effort assists in making Acocks Green a nicer place to live and shop.

We are earmarking all the litter-strewn parts of Acocks Green and will have the kit and bags available for anyone who wishes to help. You may think this is the Council's job but unfortunately with all the litter strewn around, if the Council did undertake to collect it all, our Council tax would shoot up. The Council has, however, provided quite a number of extra litter bins.
