Planning matters
230 Fox Hollies Rd – Yard to the rear
An application was made to store cars in addition to the containers already granted. Objections were submitted on the grounds of an unsuitable usage in a residential area and further noise and disturbance. In addition it was pointed out that the sale of cars had been noted on the front of this property and we would not wish to see this usage. However, permission for car storage was granted.
230 Fox Hollies – Residence
An application has been made to use this as part dwelling and part day nursery – no objections were raised by the Committee.
240 Fox Hollies Rd
An enquiry was made to the Planning Dept regarding the erection of a building in the back garden of this property. The Department confirmed that it did not require planning permission.
Sept 08 Consultation re the change in Warwick Road layout by Wilkinson store
Removal of bus lane and installation of pelican crossings. Committee members’ comments concluded that the removal of the bus lane was welcomed but the installation of yet another set of costly pelican crossings was not.
Local Area Agreement
Jeff Robinson and Jon Morris have attended meetings concerning this strategic agreement at Constituency level and have submitted comments on the Committee’s behalf.
Pavement Maintenance
Jeff Robinson took this matter up with Highways in February together with a supporting letter from Mrs Collins. Mr Hunt from Highways agreed to assess the road for inclusion in the 2009/10 programme of works. A small amount of necessary work i.e. the safety criteria of 20mm has been carried out on a number of paving slabs.
Trees
Sadly four tress planted this year have been vandalised. Their replacement has been requested. Maintenance work has been carried out this year with the loss of a tree outside no 57 and no 38
Initiatives in Acocks Green Centre
Melinda Brown, Business Centre Manager, asked for input into the objectives needed to improve the environment and viability of Acocks Green. A list of ideas and observations was circulated and fed back to her. “Putting the Green Back in Acocks Green” has been ongoing throughout the year.
Post Office Closure – 1 Olton Boulevard East
Despite a petition this Post office has now been closed. A letter of complaint was sent to point out that the facilities in the Post Office in Acocks Green Centre were not good enough to compensate for the loss of this Post Office.
Derelict Housing on Spring Rd
A letter of concern regarding the safety and the rubbish was sent to the Transportation Development Dept. The response informs us that they are in the process of purchasing 253 Spring Rd and hopefully the properties will be demolished in the first few months of 2009.
